Six drug arrests in police raids
Drugs have been seized during raids across the region as police crack down on criminals.
Police arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply in the Castlefields area of Shrewsbury.
Police seized three large bags and a small tub filled with suspected Class B drugs, thought to be cannabis or mamba, after they were called at about 10.15am yesterday. The man was arrested and held in custody. The drugs have an approximate street value of £370.
Meanwhile, police in Welshpool are continuing their drugs crackdown and insist they are moving up the chain when it comes to the town’s drug dealers.
This week, three arrests have been made for drugs supply offences after a raid caught alleged dealers planning to distribute heroin using plastic Kinder eggs.
It is the latest in a long line of successful operations in the Welshpool area.
The arrests happened after a vehicle was stopped in the town before a follow-up search led to the finds and the arrests.
Sergeant Tom Marshall is urging people to support the current campaign.
He said: “We continue to appeal to the people of Welshpool to support us in reporting drug dealing so we can rid the town of drugs or at least reduce it significantly.”
In March, arrests were made when police found heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis in a raid, while they also discovered a taser weapon disguised as a torch. Then in April a box of cannabis was discovered in a children’s play park in the town.
Police in Telford executed a drugs warrant in Burford, Brookside, yesterday, and arrested two men, aged 24 and 25.
