Shropshire IT consultant, 51, given order over child porn on computer
A Shropshire IT consultant who had child porn on his computer has been handed a community order.
Andrew Lindop, 51, of Betjeman Way, Cleobury Mortimer, admitted offences of having category A - the most serious - and category B indecent images of children on his computer.
On Friday at Shrewsbury Crown Court, he was given a 36-month community order and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
Sati Ruck, prosecuting, told the court that police attended Lindop’s address last year, and discovered 36 category A images and 11 category B images on his computer.
On the PC, police also found self-cleaning programmes to clean the computer, and he was arrested on September 22.
Andrew Baker, defending, said his client had been abused as a child. He said that at the time the offences took place Lindop's mother had died and he had suffered from ill health.
Judge Peter Barrie sentenced Lindop to a 36-week community order, and told him the offences were very serious.
He said: "I have to think of the children who are being abused in these images and to stop there being a market for them."
