Telford child porn man avoids jail

A Telford man who admitted downloading hundreds of child abuse images has avoided jail.

Matthew Morris, 33, was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

He had pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children, one count of making indecent pseudo-photos, and one count of possessing extreme pornographic images.

The court was told that Morris, of Marton Drive, Wellington, downloaded almost 800 pictures of children between February and September last year.

Judge Anthony Lowe sentenced Morris to eight months custody, suspended for two years.

He also applied a further sexual harm prevention order and a rehabilitation activity requirement, which will last for 20 days.

Morris was additionally ordered to do 180 hours of unpaid work.

He was also told to pay costs of £550 and a victim surcharge of £140.
