Police want to speak to a man who may have information about a rape in a Shropshire pub.

A 25-year-old woman was attacked in the disabled toilet of the New Inn, Newport, at about 11pm on Sunday.

West Mercia Police want to talk to a man who went to use the disabled toilet at about the same time of the incident, before going into the men's toilet.

Officers believe he could be a key witness.

Detective sergeant Ian Rutherford said: "It may be that this man didn't witness anything that is connected to our enquiries but because of the timing we're keen to speak to him as a result of him seeing the couple in the toilet.

"We know that this customer entered the male toilets and passed comment about what he had just seen to another male, and would urge him to get in contact with us."

Specially trained officers are continuing to support the victim.

Officers believe the man responsible was aged in his early 50s and are appealing for anyone who was in the Joule's Brewery pub and took photos to come forward.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 8in tall with stubble, green eyes and slicked back hair swept to the right.

He was wearing denim jeans a bright green pinstriped shirt.

Any witnesses should ring West Mercia Police on 101 quoting reference 5s 280518 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
