Raiders steal cash, booze and cigarettes from Newtown petrol station
Two men threatened staff at a mid Wales petrol station before stealing cash, alcohol and cigarettes.
The incident happened at around 2.14am today at the Snax 24 garage on Pool Road in Newtown.
Police were called and arrived within 12 minutes, however by that time the men had made off.
Both thieves were white and wearing scarves to cover their months.
Dyfed-Powys Police has launched an investigation and Temporary Detective Inspector Gareth Grant has appealed for information from the public.
He said: “This was a very worrying incident for the staff member who was working at the time. The victim was understandably shaken and is being supported by officers.
“The incident involved two men – both were white, and both were wearing scarves to cover their mouths.
“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, who might have seen two men making off from the garage on foot, or anyone driving along Pool Road around this time.”
Anyone who can help with the investigation is asked to contact Newtown JIU by calling 101 and quoting reference number 17 of June 15.
