Drivers pulled over in police operation
A major operation has seen a number of dangerous vehicles and loads stopped on a Mid Wales road.
The Dyfed-Powys Police specialist roads policing unit, based in Newtown, teamed up with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and HM Customs to carry out random checks throughout Monday on the Welshpool bypass.
A number of vehicles were stopped for breaking the law in various ways, and officers have issued a warning to other road users in the area.
A spokeswoman for the force said: "Numerous vehicles received immediate prohibitions not to move from the lay-by and a host of offences were found that could cause a danger to road users.
“We ran from 8am to 12.30pm and then moved to Newtown for a few hours.
"The operation targeted all vehicles from cars to lorries. Offences included no insurance, no licence, bald tyres, security of loads, trailer offences with couplings and braking systems.
"Also no operators’ licenses on tractors, overweight car transporter vans just to mention a few.”
