An investigation into historic incidents at the hospital in Gobowen had begun in November. However, earlier this year it was dropped on evidential grounds.

A complaint was then made against West Mercia Police over the handling of the case, but a police spokeswoman has confirmed the complaint was withdrawn by the complainant.

The allegations were made about incidents that were alleged to have happened between 2014 and 2016.

A man in his 80s was interviewed voluntarily by police officers to help with their investigation.

Earlier this year the force confirmed the investigation had concluded and no further action was being taken.

An email revealed that no further action is being taken on 'evidential grounds'.

When the allegations first surfaced, the hospital said it was fully co-operating with the police, and that as the investigation was taking place, the man in question was asked not to use the hospital facilities.

Following the conclusion of the police investigation, the hospital had not said whether the man will be allowed to use its facilities again.
