Police appeal after fracas outside Oswestry off-licence

Police are appealing for a key witness to an altercation in Oswestry to come forward.

It happened outside the Boozed Up off-licence in Salop Road at about 10.30pm on September 14.

A man was approached outside the shop by another man who was verbally abusive and aggressive towards him.

A 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and recalled to prison due to breach of bail conditions.

Enquiries have been carried out and it is believed that a man, aged between 25 and 30, helped the victim after seeing the altercation.

Detective constable Helen Bailey from West Mercia Police said: "We believe the man we are looking for may have witnessed the altercation between the two men and have important information that could assist us with our investigation. We are therefore keen to speak to him and would urge him to get in contact."

He is described as white, approximately 5ft 11 tall, of muscular build, with fair hair and was believed to be wearing light coloured clothing.
