Telford man, 20, arrested after mayhem erupts in street
A 20-year-old man from Telford was one of two people arrested after a mass brawl broke out in a street, leaving an elderly woman injured, two cars destroyed, a house severely damaged and a police officer assaulted.
Police received several 999 calls just before 11pm on New Year's Eve about a huge fight involving up to 10 men in the Russells Hall area of Dudley - where a woman was attacked and dragged along the floor.
At one stage a Nissan Micra reversed at speed down the road, lost control and careered into a house causing significant structural damage.
Police have said an elderly woman inside the house at the time was hurt.
A 20-year-old man from Telford was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
A Ford Fiesta was also set on fire during the fight.
A 16-year-old passenger from the car was arrested after two people, including a woman, were punched in the face.
The teenager, from Dudley, was arrested on suspicion of three counts of assault, including one on the arresting officer.
A spokesman from West Midlands Fire Service said: "We were called to Kestrel Road, in the Russells Hall area, in Dudley, by police shortly before 11pm.
"We received quite a few calls in relation to the incident. Crews from Brierley Hill, Dudley and Tipton all went to the scene.
"One car had impacted into the front ground floor living room of a semi-detached property in the street.
"One man and one woman sustained injuries from masonry and glass - and were taken to Russells Hall Hospital. The woman had been in the house, while the man was in the vehicle.
"Our technical rescue unit removed the car from the building."
