Police helicopter helps bust West Bromwich cannabis farm
Police found 350 cannabis plants packed into five rooms of a house in West Bromwich earlier today.
Officers forced open the front door of the address at John Street, West Bromwich, after a tip off from the public and found a man sleeping in the front room.
He spoke very little English and was arrested at the scene.
The cannabis under cultivation varied in size from saplings to fully grown plants and experts were called in to make safe the electricity that had been by-passed by those who set up the drugs farm.
An image taken from police helicopter showed the upper floor of the building glowing compared to neighbouring houses.
It is understood that members of the local community allegedly raised the alarm after seeing Eastern European men coming and going from the premises that had a distinctive smell.
West Midlands Police said that a 28-year-old man believed to come from Albania had been arrested and was helping with inquiries.
