"It is going through your heart Mrs."

Those were the chilling words said to a Black Country pensioner as a thug pressed a zombie knife against her chest during a violent car jacking.

Josephine, 71, and her husband Colin, also 71, were fixing bikes to the roof of their VW Golf in Pedmore, Stourbridge, last month when they were set upon by two masked men on a moped.

One man stayed on the moped while the other confronted Josephine and pressed a knife against her chest, screaming at her to hand over the keys to the car.

The couple fled inside via a garage door but were met in the living room of the house by the man who had entered through the front door.

After a fight involving dining room chairs and an expensive vase being smashed, the thug eventually fled empty-handed after neighbours descended on the scene.

Police managed to capture an image of the pair from the dash-cam of a passing car as they made their escape, but have so far been unable to identify them.

As West Midlands Police renewed its appeal to trace the two men behind the attack, Josephine and Colin spoke to the press about the day they were attacked.

Josephine said: "They got me by the garage door and it all escalated from there. Me and Colin got ourselves into the house via the garage door and there was this young boy in the sitting room with a chair and a knife in his hand. Colin had to pick up a chair to defend us.

"I was just telling him to put the chair down and I would get him the keys. I thought if I could get him into the hall I could get him out of the house but once we got to the hall there was a neighbour standing there and neighbours outside and they just fled.

"But prior to that they'd smashed a lovely vase in the hall, smashed a glass. They were quite violent and so loud, totally out of control."

Colin added: "There is no reason we were targeted at all, it just came out of the blue. They were just opportunists.

"We were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Immediately after we saw the moped one of the men had a knife to Josephine at the garage door. It all happened so quickly. The paramedics said that if we were perhaps not so physically fit we could've been on the floor with a heart attack. It was all very traumatic."

Asked about how they were recovering from the ordeal, Josephine said: "I think we're probably settling down now but I will never forget the knife and the noise. It was just so loud I cannot really describe it. Mrs, Mrs; keys, keys. It was so just intimidating which is what I suppose they were trying to do, just to intimidate us to give in and pass over the keys – but they got the wrong couple.

"Why should we give into these young people? They need to know that this is not the way to carry on. It really is appalling behaviour."

She continued: "I can still hear the sound vibrating in my head. Keys, keys, Mrs. I was thinking he won't really kill me because he'll end up with life in prison."

Detective Sergeant Leighton Shingles has urged anyone who recognises the pair to come forward and tell police who they are.

He said: "The public have been keen to help us and we have had a number of witnesses come forward made up of the couple's neighbours and somebody who happened to be passing at the time. We have also carried out forensic examination of the scene but at the moment our investigation is based around the images we have got of the two offenders who made off on the moped.

"We have identified the moped as a Sym 50cc but do not have registration plate. The moped was moving too fast and because of that it has been impossible to get the registration plate down.

"There has been a lot of attention on this appeal on social media where it has been viewed thousands of times. I am convinced somebody has got information about who committed this crime and where they are. the fact they were armed with a machete shows they are a danger to the public and our appeal is for anyone to come forward and give us the names of those people on the moped, which they can do by contacting me directly anonymously.

Josephine, who suffered cuts and bruises in the attack added: "Someone must know them from the picture, they are identifiable."
