Weapons and drugs found in Dudley car search

A weapon, drugs and cash were all discovered by police tracking down a suspected stolen car in Dudley.

A knife, thirty wraps of cocaine and a quantity of cash were discovered when police tracked down the car to a car park on Pedmore Road.

A police helicopter alerted traffic patrol to the car, a suspected stolen Renault Megane, at just after 3.15pm on Saturday, May 23.

Officers subsequently discovered a knife in the centre console, alongside four mobile phones, cash and around 30 wraps of suspected cocaine when searching the vehicle.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft, driving while unfit through drugs, possession of a blade and possession of drugs with intent to supply.

A 17-year-old youth was also detained on suspicion of theft of a car and a drugs offence, with both released pending further enquiries.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police confirmed the arrest and said: "A traffic patrol, alerted by officers in the police helicopter, stopped the car and a knife was found in the centre console.

"During a further search four mobile phones, a quantity of cash and about 30 wraps of suspected cocaine were also found."
