BB gun found in Shrewsbury after armed police investigate reports of a firearm
Armed police took part in a town-centre operation after reports of a gun at a property.
The officers could be seen in Shrewsbury, on Sunday afternoon.
They said they had been called to reports of a firearm at an address on Claremont Street, but said that despite finding a BB gun, no offences had been committed.
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "We attended a property on Claremont Street in Shrewsbury, yesterday at around 12 noon, following a concern that there might be a firearm at the address.
"As a precaution firearms officers attended and made a number of enquiries.
"A thorough search of the property was carried out and a BB gun was located – no offences had been committed."
