Thieves smash their way into Newport Fire Station

Thieves smashed their way into a fire station in Shropshire.

The incident happened at about 11pm on Wednesday at Newport Fire Station on Salters Lane.

Panels at the entrance to the fire station were smashed and the door was damaged.

It is believed the offenders were driving a Volkswagen estate.

A spokesperson from the fire station said: At 11pm we were yet again broken into by youths in a VW estate, possibly silver in colour.

"If anyone has any information that could lead to the apprehension of them, can they call 101 or our fire control."
