A parking area behind the Silver Fish chip shop in Tan Bank, Wellington, was taped off and supervised by police on Wednesday.

The cordon also encompassed much of Walker Street, which is adjacent to the town council offices, after officers arrived some time before 11am.

People running the businesses in Tan Bank were mystified about what had happened there, and police at the scene would not comment.

Julie Lu of the Tasty takeaway restaurant, two doors down from Silver Fish, said the police were there when she arrived this morning.

"When I came back about 11am, they were there. They just told me they were investigating an incident but that was it."

The police officers packed up the tape and left the scene at about 6pm.

It was one of two major incidents in Telford on Wednesday after a shop worker was stabbed in Dawley.

West Mercia Police has been approached for comment.
