Armed police operation in Wellington

The drama began at about 8pm on Thursday when several police cars arrived in Glebe Street.

Officers with guns and also police dog handlers were seen outside a block of flats in the street.

Passers by said the weapons seemed to be trained on a an upper floor window.

The incident happened two days after a man was left with life-threatening injuries after an attack in the town.

West Mercia Police has been contacted for comment.
