West Mercia Police is asking people to only call for "genuine emergencies" due to issues with its 999 and 101 lines.

A spokesman said: "We are currently experiencing a technical issue with our 999 and 101 call lines. Calls are currently being diverted to neighbouring forces, as is standard procedure.

"Please help to keep the call lines free for genuine emergencies. Thank you."

The force had to divert calls on separate occasions in June and September last year after 'system outages'.
