Belmont Hall, in Wellington, celebrated the coronation of King Charles III with the planting of a rose bush on May 5.

Less than a month later, volunteers at the community hall were left mystified when the five-foot plant disappeared overnight.

When Belmont's coordinator, Stephen Handley, arrived at the hall on Thursday, June 1, he noticed the plant was missing.

Mr Handley said he checked the CCTV and was shocked to see a man pull the rose bush up and walk off down Wellington High Street at 3.08am.
