Afzal Choudry, of Barlow Close, Stirchley, admitted assaulting Rucksana Choudhry causing her actual bodily harm on April 9 this year.

District Judge Barnes, sitting at Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, was shown a picture of the victim with a cut lip. He watched a video of a rumpus inside a shop food preparation area which involved several people and included Choudry briefly picking up a knife.

Choudry, who representing himself, said: "I kept asking her not to come into the shop. She came and abused me, calling me all the names under the sun.

"She drives me mad."

Judge Barnes said Choudry's actions were "inexcusable" and he described a video of the incident as showing him to be repeatedly shouting and being the aggressor while his victim was defending herself.
