Paul Martin was on licence from prison when he assaulted his then girlfriend on New Year's Eve in Bebbs Mews, Wellington, Telford Magistrates heard.

Martin pleaded guilty to a common assault on his former girlfriend and guilty to assaulting an emergency worker when he appeared before magistrates on Thursday.

Prosecutor Andrew Mitchinson told the court: "On December 31, 2022, police received an anonymous 999 call stating that a female was in the street screaming 'No' with a male shouting 'Get back in the house'."

He added that there was CCTV footage that showed Martin kicking his former girlfriend in the face and head, which he played to the court.
