David Severn, aged 43, took his trousers down and relieved himself in full view of the general public in Shrewsbury town centre on April 24.

Severn, who is from Shrewsbury but of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty at Kidderminster Magistrates Court to outraging public decency.

As well as fining him, magistrates also ordered him to pay £185 in prosecution costs and a £16 victim surcharge.

It comes after a man got in touch with the Shropshire Star last month to say anti-social behaviour had sunk to a new low.

Roy Graham, aged 78, took pictures of a man who pulled down his trousers and squatted in the alleyway between Lloyds Bank and Caffe Nero, off Pride Hill.

One of the pictures taken showed the man's face and West Mercia Police said it would help officers identify the offender.

Widower Mr Graham said Shrewsbury has been "going downhill", and called on the authorities to take action.

Mr Graham's concerns came as police released grainy CCTV pictures from Claremont Hill where officers say there have been "numerous incidents of activities such as drug taking, urinating and littering in the area".
