Near six-times-the-limit drink driver faces sentencing next month
A man who drove a van with nearly six times the legal alcohol limit in his blood will learn what sentence he faces next month.
Robert Cairns, aged 62, of Chelsea Court, Pountney Gardens, Belle Vue Road, Shrewsbury, was found guilty in his absence of driving a Peugeot Expert van on February 6, 2022 with 471 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.
At his trial last month, Telford Magistrates Court heard how he twice hit the pumps at the BP petrol station - now Esso - on Hereford Road.
