'It's my livelihood': Newport businesswoman loses nine years of work to Facebook hacker
An Shropshire businesswoman whose Facebook account was hacked has spoken out about the "devastating" impact losing an account can have on small firms.
Sarah May, from Newport, has today called for better support from the social media platform when accounts are hacked and business owners lose access to their page.
It comes after Sarah's business page – Lily's Secret Vintage Tearoom – was hacked on Friday, July 21, which resulted in nine years' worth of work being lost and Sarah being unable to contact her customers.
She said: "Over the weekend I was thinking of jacking it all in and it really affected my mental health because I couldn't see a way forward at all.
"My page had 5,000 followers and I'd had it from 2014 - that's a lot of work to have just gone. It's been my main livelihood since 2014 – being an entrepreneur and juggling all these hats.
