Lee Gibb, 35 of High Street, Madeley, Telford, denied he was driving the Audi following the high speed chase with police in October 2022 year during a trial earlier this year.

The unemployed driver had denied he was driving at the time and claimed to have sold his car to a man called "Polish Dan", but a jury at Shrewsbury Crown Court was unconvinced and convicted Gibb of dangerous driving.

At his sentence hearing at the same court on Wednesday, prosecutor Mr Robert Edwards KC for the prosecution, said Gibb's actions on October 9 last year involved "a prolonged and consistent course of dangerous driving".

He told Judge Anthony Lowe that two police officers in Telford had spotted Gibb's Audi at 4pm and followed it.

"The driver became aware of the police and accelerated off at speed," said Mr Edwards, adding that in trying to lose the police, Gibb conducted two "highly dangerous" manoeuvres that saw two vehicles have to take "evasive action" to avoid hitting the Audi.
