Sharon Guy, 49, of Smallwood, Sutton Hill, was pulled over in her silver Peugeot just after leaving the Ye Olde Robin Hood Inn in Ironbridge on September 23 this year.

Telford Magistrates heard that Guy was stopped in Waterloo Street in Ironbridge at around 11pm, after officers saw her leaving the pub and noticed her rear side light was not working.

Officers breathalysed Guy and she was found to have 54 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, above the 35 microgrammes legal limit.

Apologising to the court, Guy admitted it had been a "foolish mistake".

She said: "It had been a stressful year. I split up with my husband but things were getting better and I wanted to celebrate, so I went out with my daughter to have one glass of wine.

"My actions were wrong but I can't turn back time."

Magistrates said that while she would be banned from driving for 15 months, she qualified for a 15-week discount if she attended a drink drive rehabilitation course.

Guy was also ordered to pay more than £400 in fines and surcharges.
