'Low IQ sex offender' forgot to tell police key phone detail - but avoids prison

A sex offender with an "IQ of 61" forgot to tell police about his old phone when he put its SIM card into his new equipment, a court heard.

Wayne John Bayliss, aged 50, of Meadowbrook, Bayston Hill, near Shrewsbury, admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order that was slapped on him in November 2018.

Telford Magistrates Court was told that "nothing of concern" was found on the old broken phone.

Kate Cooper, mitigating, told the court on Wednesday that her client had entered an early guilty plea to the January 10 offence.
