Staff at a school near Whitchurch are celebrating after being judged as "outstanding" by education inspectors.

The Bishop Heber High School in Malpas was highly commended in its latest Ofsted report following a two-day inspection at the end of the spring term.

It was judged on overall effectiveness, outcomes for pupils, provision, leadership and management, and its sixth form.

The report said: "It is an outstanding school, with an outstanding sixth form. Students achieve exceptionally well in their academic studies and benefit from an excellent curriculum and from outstanding care, guidance and support in everything they do.

"The outstanding curriculum has a positive impact on students' personal and academic development.
