A school in south Shropshire which changed several members of staff following a below par Ofsted report is making good progress according to inspectors.
Ludlow Infant School in Sandpits Road, Ludlow, was asked to make a number of changes when last inspected in 2010. Ofsted revisited the school this month and praised teaching staff for making vast improvements.
The report published on February 24 said: "The latest Ofsted inspection noted the school was making improvements and could possibly form a federation with three other local schools.
"Since the previous inspection, there have been several changes of staff including within the leadership team. An acting deputy headteacher was appointed in September 2011.
"Having considered all the evidence, I am of the opinion that at this time the school has made good progress in making improvements.
"Pupils' attainment and progress in English and mathematics have shown good improvement since the previous inspection and show every sign of continuing this trend. Results in 2011 at the end of Year Two indicated attainment in reading, writing and mathematics was significantly above the national average."
Inspectors added attainment in reading was especially high, with almost half the pupils in 2011 reaching levels above the national average.
And despite the number of recent staff changes the school had succeeded in significantly increasing the proportion of good teaching.
The report concludes by heaping praise onto the school's headteacher Val Matthews for leading the improvements.
