Woodfield Infant School in Shrewsbury judged outstanding by Ofsted
Officials at a Shropshire primary school are celebrating after being judged outstanding in all areas by Government inspectors.
Woodfield Infant School, in Copthorne, Shrewsbury, has been given the highest rating possible by Ofsted following an inspection in May.
The glowing report concluded that the achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils, and leadership and management were all outstanding.
Inspectors said pupils made outstanding progress in reading, writing and mathematics in all year groups, adding that: "Standards are high and year-on-year pupils' attainment is well above the national average."
The report praised the school's teachers who inspectors said "have consistently high expectations and provide stimulating and challenging lessons for their pupils", ensuring that children "make outstanding progress in their time at Woodfield Infant School".
Inspectors, who observed 18 lessons, also highlighted the school's "determined and expert leadership", adding that "the headteacher has sustained, and is further improving, the achievement of pupils and the quality of teaching in the school".
Pupils were commended for their "excellent attitudes to learning" and for demonstrating "exemplary behaviour", in addition to respect and consideration for each other and the adults around them.
Head Geraldine Dunkerley said: "I am absolutely delighted with the outcome of our Ofsted inspection.
"Parents and carers of children at our school will be joining in a picnic lunch in the school grounds at the end of June. This is very much well deserved by all the children.
"I would like to thank the governing body and staff for their professionalism and commitment in ensuring that the children here at Woodfield Infant School receives the outstanding education identified by Ofsted.
"The new framework has very high expectations and to achieve outstanding in all categories is an achievement the whole school community should embrace."
