Construction, bricklaying and plumbing courses will be run in the evenings at Walford & North Shropshire College's Oswestry campus.

The college already offers the courses full time during the day, but will now offer the part-time courses for people who work during the day.

Staff say the courses would be ideal for anyone looking for a change of career, or who has a home building or restoration project.

Lucy Evans from the college said that full time students could study for vocational diplomas in bricklaying and plumbing.

She said that now those who wanted to pick up an understanding of various construction skills could join new part-time evening courses.

A five-week course in basic plumbing and electrical skills will begin on February 23 from 7pm to 9pm and on the same evening there will be a five-week course in bricklaying that will get under way.

On February 24 there will be a five-week course starting in basic plastering skills.

"This course is for those wanting to have a good understanding and awareness of both plumbing and electrical. It will provide you the opportunity to pick up some basic skills to carry out both plumbing and electrical tasks within the home. The course is for adventurous people who wish to become aware of both plumbing and electrical basic knowledge."
