£15 million revamp at Telford college complete
The final phase of a £15 million improvement scheme at Telford College of Arts and Technology has been completed.
New specialist training centres have been springing up around the college's Wellington campus over the past three years as part of TCAT's pledge to create state-of-the-art facilities.
They include a new engineering centre, a £3.5 million automotive manufacturing plant and an on-site restaurant.
Building work has just been completed on the Willow Tree Centre, a new £1.8 million centre which will provide specialist facilities for learners with complex needs and disabilities. Post-16 pupils currently based at Bridge School in Hadley in Telford will be relocated to the complex when it opens its doors in September.
The college's hair and beauty salon The Retreat has also been given a refurbishment and rebrand, and the final piece of the jigsaw was a major landscaping project outside the college's 'E' block.
Chris Scott, college principal, said: "We are very proud of the facilities on offer at Telford College. Over the past three years, we have spent about £15 million."
"We have invested significantly in new facilities – a new motor vehicle centre, engineering discovery centre, creative hub, and our on-site
restaurant The Orange Tree."
Since 2012, Telford College has also invested in new 3G sports pitches, created a construction centre and discovery centre, and refurbished six ground floor IT rooms.
