Parents alerted after Telford school blazer badge mix-up

It's that time of year when school blazers fly off the shelves. But parents and pupils had a shock when they took their Madeley Academy blazers home from Baker & Sons Schoolwear in Wellington.

Parent Helen Honnor took to Facebook to alert other customers after the school badge peeled off — and underneath remained the name and symbol of the now closed Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College.

Store owner Roger Baker replied and urged parents to return faulty blazers and said it had been a "mix-up" at one of six embroidery companies he used.

Ms Honnor wrote: "It fell off very easily. Imagine the embarrassment or trouble that could have been caused if this had occurred while at school.

"I believe that Bakers are happy to exchange any blazers purchased in this condition. I for one am very disappointed in this second-rate service and have let the school know.

"Thought I'd inform folks so as to avoid this situation."

Mr Baker said: "It would appear that one of our suppliers made a huge error this summer when embroidering Madeley Academy blazers, as you can see they incorrectly embroidered the BRJ logo and tried to cover it up with the Madeley logo.

"I can assure people that all of these blazers have been taken off sale and anyone who has purchased one of these faulty blazers can exchange them no problem.

"I'm very embarrassed by the whole situation as we hope our reputation hasn't been tarnished by a lack of judgment from a supplier."

The BRJ school in Wellington has now closed and the new Charlton School developed on its site, while BRJ pupils will move to the new Holy Trinity Academy at Priorslee in September.
