The repairs to the road surface, kerbs and manhole covers in Priorslee Avenue, Priorslee, will take place outside peak hours from September 7.

The move is being taken to ensure the opening of the newly-constructed Holy Trinity Academy on the former Celestica site runs smoothly.

The new academy, which will become Priorslee's first secondary school and will replace the former Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College in Wellington, will cater for up to 900 pupils aged between 11 and 18, 150 of whom will be sixth-form students.

The roadworks in Priorslee Avenue are expected to be finished by September 18.

Councillor Angela McClements, Telford & Wrekin Council's cabinet member for communities, regeneration and transport, said: "This essential maintenance scheme is part of our programme of investment in local roads to improve our infrastructure, which includes taking action to prepare our roads before the winter sets in.

"I'm happy to say that this time we have been able to work with our contractors to reach a mutually agreeable solution which will lessen the impact of the works on the opening of the Holy Trinity Academy and the existing Priorslee Primary Academy."
