Part-time offer for home-schooled pupils in Wem
A Shropshire school has unveiled plans to aid parents and children who favour home education.
Weston Lullingfields Primary School, near Wem, is planning to open its doors to those who favour home education, but would welcome some part-time input from a school.
Richard Arrowsmith, community governor for the school, said: "The school is taking a step forward this year and will offer its teaching and enlightened curriculum to parents and children who are not currently in full-time education, but who would value a part-time link with just the right school if they could only find it.
"The head and governors would now like to offer up to five places to families who would value the opportunity to complement the learning which takes place at home by agreeing areas of study which could be provided and supported by the school.
"September 24 is a good moment to see the kind of creative and dynamic curriculum which the school is developing.
"On this day, an investigation entitled 'the time before the Romans' will take place.
"Pupils will be immersed in practical activities which will bring to life the day-to-day reality of existence in the Iron Age.
"The school will draw on the expertise and knowledge of local people in the community which will tie in with the acknowledged teaching and support skills of the staff." He added: "If children wished to take a full part in the day, the school would make a small charge of £20 for the first child and £10 for any siblings to help cover the cost of staffing and resources."
People can register their interest by emailing head@westonlullingfields.shropshire.sch.uk with their contact details and the names and ages of the children they would like to attend.
