"We are in the process of using tried and tested systems that will ensure our school is a centre of excellence.

"One of the things we are most proud of is the school's uniqueness as it is an amalgamation of two schools. Those schools had two distinct identities with some strengths but also were facing significant challenges as identified in their Ofsted reports.

"Even though Telford Priory School has only been in existence since September, there have already been some examples of excellence including our sporting achievements, our community events, our performances including The Wiz, our contribution to business events, involvement in Stem activities, trips to colleges and involvement in charity work.

"We continue to work on some of the things identified in the Ofsted reports in relation to improving behaviour and teaching and learning.

"Some of our early improvement work means that our year 11 students are working with staff tirelessly on intervention and support programmes, holiday schools and our 'Passport to success' rewards programme to ensure that predictions for year 11 look secure and are improving.

"Regardless of Ofsted, excellence in terms of culture, behaviour and relationships is at the heart of what makes a wonderful school.

"The approach we are taking to ensuring our expectations are embedded include the development of our ethos via the house systems and vertical tutoring systems and the implementation of the consequence system.

"This has been locally used in other schools in the trust and more nationally in other schools in other trusts and very recently Ofsted have recognised the transformative approach of these systems in our partner schools in the south of Telford.

"When this behaviour system was introduced to parents in the autumn term, we spoke about how the system was going to be a challenge for all of our young people to rethink what excellent behaviour is.

"We have always recognised that some parents and students will take longer to understand some of the intricacies of the system but we stand firm in setting this high bar and challenging members of our community to rise to it.

"Our system is based around a series of simple consequences which are a response to behaviours which don't meet our expectations and our high expectations are based around the fundamentals of being a productive and successful member of the community.

"Key principals include punctuality, respect for each other and all members of our school community who are dedicated to our school, care, preparedness to learn and engagement with learning.

"We particularly are in the middle of establishing our expectations within our classrooms where we want all of our students to be focused on learning and able to do so in environments which are free from low level disruption. Everyone involved in the leadership of this school know this system will work because of the successful implementation elsewhere.

"All young people are entitled to an education which is free from disruption. We want all of our students to be encouraged to reach for the stars. A positive disciplined culture is at the heart of that.

"We are aware that as our systems are starting to embed and particularly those relating to expectations, culture and behaviour there is a need to develop and ensure consistency internally and externally which will be achieved over time.

"We do already have a parent focus group and at this stage during the implementation it is time to increase communications home to ensure that we are working in partnership with parents to help us all meet this challenge.as with implement if anything new, there will always be times when members of our community may challenge our systems but we welcome feedback from parents and students to .help us improve our practice so that all students within our community can get the education they deserve.

"In light of our current position on our journey, we are now in a position to increase the involvement of parents to ensure there is a shared understanding of the system and its impact in raising standards in the longer term."
