A three-year-old who ran out after his mother after being left at a Telford nursery could bring on a change in policy.

The youngster got out of the door at Captain Webb Childcare Centre, in Dawley, before being caught by an incoming teacher in the parking area.

A spokesman for Captain Webb Primary School said: "We are aware of the incident in question which involved one of the children who attends the Captain Webb Childcare Centre, which is run by a private provider.

"The boy very briefly followed his mother out of the site to the parking area after she had dropped him off at 9am.

"However, he was spotted, picked up and returned safely to the childcare centre by a member of staff. The whole incident took about 60 seconds."

A spokesman for the childcare centre said: "If any parents have any queries about any aspect of our practice, we are always happy to discuss this with them."

The centre has reported the incident, which happened earlier this week, to the Local Safeguarding Children Board, Ofsted and the Pre-School Learning Alliance and will act on any advice given.
