Former Shrewsbury teacher in top government role
A former English teacher from Shrewsbury School has taken up a position in Theresa May's government.
James Marshall, 37, has been described by former pupils of the school as "energetic" and "popular".
But he quit teaching for a political life and has risen through the ranks to be made head of policy to the Prime Minister.
Mr Marshall, who read English at Magdalene College, Cambridge, also taught theatre studies and directed school plays at the exclusive private school.
His new role will see Mr Marshall in charge of delivering policy for Mrs May’s government and managing aspects of the Brexit process.
