Flying in for a surprise visit and landing on the Redhill Primary School sports field, courtesy of Grandad Alan Austin and his company Austin Aviation, were special visitors direct from Hogwarts; non other than Professor Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall – arriving by helicopter.

The 450-pupil primary school in Priorlsee celebrated 20 years of the first Harry Potter book, The Philosopher’s Stone, first published on June 26 1997.

As well as the special landing, the school was transformed into Hogwarts later in the day for the massive summer fair fundraiser yesterday, with lots of famous characters coming to life as teachers, children, parents, carers and family members dressing up as their favourite Harry Potter characters to raise money for extra school resources at their Redhill to Hogwarts Summer Fair.

The ambitious event, organised by The Friends of Redhill Primary School, has been months in the planning and is set to be the biggest ever attempted by the team who organise a wide variety of fundraising events throughout the year.

PR Officer for The Friends of Redhill, Sarah Thompson, said, “This event, and the incredible helicopter visit, is probably the most ambitious we have created and organised here at Redhill so far.

"The Harry Potter books and films are loved by millions of children around the world and we certainly have plenty of Potter Fans, children and teachers alike, here at Redhill.

"The event has caused a lot of excitement for the children and a lot of interest locally. We couldn’t think of a better theme for our summer fundraiser this year especially as it coincides with 20th anniversary of the first Harry Potter book publication.”
