Oldbury Wells School was inspected on May 1 as a Section 8 inspection.

Sarah Godden, headteacher of Oldbury Wells, who also works part time as an Ofsted inspector said: “A section 8 inspection is a one-day inspection to re-validate a school which has previously been judged as ‘good’, and where Ofsted don’t have any new concerns.

“We are delighted with the report; it’s a very positive validation of our work.”

In 2013 Oldbury Wells was judged as ‘good’ in all areas.

The ‘good’ category has again been upheld, adding recognition of the further improvements that the school has made since the last inspection.

Ofsted inspector Christopher Stevens started his report with a focus on the school ethos.

He said: “You have placed the needs of pupils at the centre of the school’s work. As a result you have created an inclusive, caring and friendly community. Pupils enjoy school, feel very safe and appreciate the support they receive.”

His report went on to recognise the “strong team approach” and “overwhelmingly supportive“ staff.

“We were thrilled to have this aspect of school recognised,” said Jamie White who is Head of Pastoral care at Oldbury Wells.

“I think it is an unusual focus for an Ofsted inspector to take; but we think our admirable school ethos stood out.”
