Alexander Macura, 64, who gave his address as a caravan park in Lancashire, is banned from entering school premises.

However in May, he set off a burglar alarm at Maesydre School in Welshpool, and was found by a classroom assistant.

Macura was last week handed a two-year community order by magistrates in Welshpool.

Powys County Council and the school have sent a letter to parents saying the incident happened outside of school hours and that damage caused by the break-in had been repaired and the school was secured. It confirmed no items had been removed.

The letter said: "All pupil data and records are locked in filing cabinets which are locked in the school office.

"There was no evidence to suggest that the intruder had accessed any other areas of the school.”
