The move is part of the school's plan to shut the Worcester Road campus and have all pupils on one site.

Shropshire Council this week granted planning permission for the new buildings which, because they are pre-fabricated buildings, will only have permission for five years.

The academy says it will eventually build permanent classrooms on the land, the former tennis courts at the school.

Students currently use Shrewsbury Sports Village for playing tennis.

"This will eventually allow all the staff and students to be finally on one site, providing faster progress and improvement of the school," a report to the council said.
