Hadley Learning Community was presented with the laptops by staff at the Asda Donnington Wood store.

It is part of a scheme being run by Asda, in partnership with technology provider Dell, to help tackle digital exclusion.

June Walker, community champion at Asda Donnington Wood, said: "Whilst children are now returning to the classroom there is still a need for technology to support education activities inside the classroom, homework tasks, learning during school holidays and to help schools future proof their home learning capabilities.

"As part of the supermarket's initiative to provide 7,000 laptops to schools across the UK to help tackle digital exclusion, the supermarket formed a partnership with technology provider Dell to invest over £2 million so that every Asda store in the UK, including Donnington Wood, could donate at least 10 laptops to a school in need in the local community.

"Each laptop comes with a tech bundle including headset, mobile internet, dongle data allowance.

"I have worked with the Hadley Learning Community primary school during the pandemic.

"They were delighted to receive the call regarding the laptops, saying they were the chosen primary school and would they like to accept.

"I'm so proud that I can say I work for Asda and we have helped play a small part in helping to break down the digital barriers so the children can continue their education remotely both now and in the future."

Maddie Griffin, headteacher at Hadley Learning Community, said: "It was such a surprise and we can't thank June and Asda enough for choosing our school to receive these laptops.

"This donation will go a long way in helping break down the digital barriers which exist for many of our children, enabling them to gain access to the technology and data packages which they require."
