Presenters in visit to Telford college
Last week, New College Telford music production, music technology and HND Music Production students were visited by BBC Introducing presenters Jolon Kemp Walker and Sam Fleet.
The pair delivered a talk on the music industry and the format of their radio show on BBC Radio Shropshire.
Local artists are able to submit their work to the show, which is then listened to by Jolon and Sam, and often included on the programme. New College Telford student Michael O'Neil
recently had his tracks featured on the show.
New College Telford Lecturer of HND/HNC Music Production, Beth McGowan said; "We offer industry standard facilities, such as our state-of-the-art recording studio, and many of our lecturers are sector experts themselves. We aim to deliver as realistic an experience as possible with work experience and opportunities such as BBC Introducing's visit.
"It's an invaluable chance for them to gain knowledge of what to expect, and how they can give themselves a competitive edge through branding and promotion – not just their music."
Jolon himself is a former student of New College Telford, having completed his studies at the college in performing arts. He was thrilled to return to the college, saying; "It was great to be back and see New College Telford continuing to give students hands-on experience of the arts industry."
