Following the introduction of a new logo to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Grove School in Market Drayton, the school's senior leaders wanted to incorporate the new design into the school uniform.

So they asked a team of 30 Year 11 students to help them design a remodelled blazer and tie.

The new grey blazer and tie will be available to all Year 7 students starting in September 2016 and existing students are asked to replace their blazer and tie by September 2017. The rest of the uniform will remain the same.

Sonia Taylor, headteacher, said: "It was the school's 50th anniversary in September and to mark that we wanted to modernise the school logo. This is a new era and we wanted to represent that in a new uniform.

"We have already made lots of changes at the school including giving the reception a facelift and school cafe. We have invested a lot to change the environment.

"We are moving forward in a modern way and we want to be different and stand out from other schools.

"That is why we wanted to change the blazer from a plain black one, which many schools have, to one we can incorporate our new logo into.

"We want the children to be proud to wear the uniform.

"This is a blazer that the students have helped design and are proud of and we are confident it will create a positive and visible identity for the school in the community."
