Also, the school has received the National Citizen Service Champion School Award, given to only sixteen schools across the Midlands. Fifty students signed up for their programme in 2015 giving them the opportunity to go on a four-week residential in the summer break following their GCSEs.

The SafetyMark Award was also presented to Grove School to recognise excellent safety management practices, safeguarding and health and safety. Headteacher Sonia Taylor said the school was very proud to get the awards.

She added: "Teachers and students are feeling the benefits of the Teacher Effectiveness Enhancement Programme and continuing to enjoy the many and varied strategies provided by this training.

"Focusing on the highest-quality classroom strategies will ensure that Grove becomes a leading school in teaching and learning and that our students go on to great things."

Also this term, pupils in Key Stage Three Latin Club have just returned from a trip to the Lake District.

Rachell Giles, the school's marketing officer, said: "Our Latin Club has just returned from a trip to our field centre in the Lake District where they spent time walking as well as consolidating their Latin studies.

"Also at school, we marked World Book Day with a series of competitions linked to reading for pleasure with a range of prizes and book tokens awarded.

"Finally, a group of year 10 students are looking forward to becoming broadcasters for the day on March 10 as they undertake the BBC School Report Challenge.

"Last year more than 1,000 schools and 30,000 pupils from around the UK took part and published reports on air and online on the BBC throughout the day.

"Look out for our roving reporters' news items."
