Headmaster Michael Getty is thrilled with the report, saying: "We are very proud indeed of our pupils, who were superb ambassadors for the school and also of our talented teachers and staff.

"We are delighted with how one word resonates with great frequency throughout our report, that of ISI's highest grading; Excellent.

"Furthermore, as our explicit goal is to ensure we are completely focused on the individual, we are especially pleased with the inspection's simple, but fundamentally important assertion, that across our full age range, from 3-18 years, the high school 'fully meets its aims to realise the pupil's academic and all-round potential'.

Shrewsbury High School welcomes boys and girls to its prep school from the age of three and its early years provision was highly praised and described as 'extremely effective' with staff credited with 'providing an excellent balance of challenge and support to move children's thinking forward' whilst throughout the prep school academically 'boys and girls achieve equally well and have excellent levels of achievement in extracurricular activities'. In senior school, the inspectors detailed how pupils benefit from an 'excellent' and 'highly effective' curriculum, show 'excellent subject skills and knowledge in lessons' and 'excellent attitudes to learning'. 'They are enthusiastic and hardworking, and show excitement and enjoyment'.

Mr Getty said: "Over the last two years we have been immensely proud to have received two national educational awards and this report really tops off an amazing period of success. As well as being so effusing in their praise of our education, the inspectors also captured something of the spirit of the school, as they also complimented the sense of community and positive ethos."
