Children at Hodnet Primary School near Market Drayton have been using the school grounds to learn more about the outdoors.

Ceri Field-Williams, acting deputy headteacher, said the new reception children, who started last month, had been enjoying the mud kitchen. She said: "They have been really enjoying it, it was installed over the summer and they have been using it in free choice time, and also in the afternoon.

"We had a whole school environmental day on Friday last week. That was encouraging the children to spend the day outdoors and taking part in lots of environmental activities. So, they were gardening, pulling up vegetables, planting different things, and tending to the chicken coup."
