To mark National Grandparent's Day on October 2, author Lee Sterrey, gave a reading of her book The Buttercup Game to pupils at Birchfield Prepcare Day Nursery, in Albrighton.

The story explains issues of dementia to children, following the story of rabbit who visits his grandmother.

Pre-school children and reception children took part. They received a signed copy of the book. Penny Shevyn, nursery manager, said: "The children really did enjoy it.

"There is a little boy in the class whose great-grandmother is suffering with dementia and this story really looks at that in a nice way, without using the word dementia, and explains how older people can forget things.

"Lee really captured the children's attention."

Birchfield has an open day on Saturday to tour the school and nursery when activities will be taken place.
