Josh Sturland and Evan Bradbury, both aged nine, and Luca Whitney, 10, from Hugo Meynell School Primary School, in Loggerheads, near Market Drayton, have been raising money for Douglas Macmillan Hospice in Stoke-on-Trent.

Mick Sturland, Josh's dad, said: "My son wanted to do something for the Douglas MacMillan Hospice after my wife and daughter did the Moonlight Walk 2016 for them. I am running the Market Drayton 10k this year for the same cause. His nannie, Barbrara Morris, passed away in October 2015 in the hospice.

"He wanted to support the hospice and thank the staff who took care of her in her last days.

"He got together with two mates and they decided they would challenge themselves to wear shorts for school, no matter the weather, every day.

"They've done that in rain, snow, ice and wind."

Their challenge started in the middle of September last year and will end at half term, on February 17.

"They have collected sponsorship from school pupils and parents," Mr Sturland added.

"Money is still coming in, but collectively they will have raised around £600."

Anyone wishing to support thr boys can call the school on 01630 672287, or contact Mr Sturland on 07792 774 058 or by emailing michael.sturland@westmercia.pnn.police.uk
