Grange Park Primary School in Stirchley, Telford, held a 'Mrs Brown Day' for deputy headteacher Nicki Brown, who has her final day at the school today.

Children and staff throughout the school turned themselves into Mrs Brown doppelgängers, wearing their best lookalike wigs, masks and dresses.

The 62-year-old has been at the school since 1982, making her way from a nursery teacher to the deputy headteacher.

She said: "It's been an absolutely brilliant day. It was a total and utter surprise and it was just amazing to see them all dressed up.

"I've been here for 36 years and I wouldn't teach anywhere else. It's a very special place that holds a place in my heart for both the staff and the pupils.

"I can't believe all the parents must have been involved dressing up their children as me. They've obviously got to know me far too well as there were some accurate costumes.

"I had a meeting this morning at another school and when I came back into school as normal, everyone was there lined up all the stairs and along chairs, I couldn't have had anything better.

"I didn't say much at the time as I was so shocked. It was a very emotional day."

Over her time there, Mrs Brown has worked at the school under three different names, joining when it was Stirchley First School, to Three Oaks Primary School and now as Grange Park Primary School.

She was also involved in designing the new site the school is currently based at when it moved last year, to its current location next to Telford Town Park.

"A lot has changed since I first joined," she added.

"Education in itself has changed. We're so much more able to give children and their families the support they need and understand how different people learn in different ways.

"The school has changed and developed along with it, but the spirit of the school has always been amazing.

"Our new site is now at the heart of Stirchley and right next to Telford Park School, so pupils have a seamless transition and can pretty much stay at the same place from three-years-old to 18.

"I had a young boy tell me today that I taught his grandparents. It's a very close community that comes through and I guess that part just shows how young I am."
